Wallace’s Hut is the oldest known Cattleman’s hut still standing in the Victorian High Country. It was built by the Wallace Brothers in 1889 from slabs of snowgum. In the 1930s its woollybutt roof shingles were replaced by the State Electricity Commission (SEC) when it was taken over as a workers’ hut. Now it serves as a refuge and slice of human history nestled in the wild Victorian High Country.
