Putting Customers First.

We think about the world from our customers perspective. For this reason, in nearly twenty years of business, we've haven't offered discounts or run sales*. We have no intention of changing this policy. We recognise this approach goes against much of the prevailing business sentiment suggesting sales, discount codes and so forth in order to generate revenue. Every Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Boxing Day sale etc it’s a race to the bottom for retailers, especially online. In a constant game of keeping up with the competition, businesses feel pressured to offer big discounts to remain relevant and participate in the silly season. The discount frenzy drives our culture of overconsumption - pressuring consumers to buy things they don’t need. You’re not scoring a bargain when buying something you wouldn’t otherwise have purchased. The truth is that despite being an effective incentive, discounts aren’t great for business, or the planet. As retailers have more and more sales to lure Australians into stores it has bred a group of deal junkies that won’t shop unless they see “Up to 50 per cent off” signs or yellow clearance stickers. It has changed the behaviour of many shoppers to become “If I don’t have a coupon or it’s not on sale, I just won’t buy it”. Unfortunately, for you, sales also have the effect of inflating regular prices to allow for discounting, and promotes cost cutting that prevents businesses from being able to create great quality products and experiences that we expect of them. 

Rather, our "Affordable Prices, Everyday" model is based on offering Scott's photographic products at affordable prices everyday, without you needing to wait for sale events. Affordable pricing everyday mitigates the risk of frustration if Scott's products that you have purchased were to drop in price the next day or at a later date due to a sale. Of course, when you have a sale, the customer truly feels they are getting a better deal or a bargain. But equally, there’s another entire customer segment that has been blatantly ripped off. For us, we have an issue with that approach, it treats customers with contempt.

We believe there is a better and more ethical way to treat customers. Instead of destroying the value we’ve created by having sales, we're constantly focused on delivering value, exceeding expectations, and doing more for the world. We prefer our products to be available all year round at an affordable price. After all, experiencing Australia with quality artworks and gifts isn’t something our customers only decide to do in the lead up to Christmas.

Value For You. Everyday.

Putting customers first means delivering great value everyday, not just at a sale time. We constantly seek to identify efficiencies and savings across the business to reduce operating costs, leaning out our operations, meaning we can hold off passing price increases from our suppliers onto our customers. The result is you can shop with the confidence that you are going to get great value no matter when you buy - yesterday, today or tomorrow. Consequently you won’t see us offering coupons, sales or site-wide discounts.

While we don't do sales or discounts, we do seek to add value when and where we can, occasionally having value add offers. 

* We once had a moving sale when we moved from our first gallery to a new location. It made sense to not move or pack up stock twice, so we offered a small discount for in stock artworks before the move.

* Our annual Christmas Shopping events have given away tens of thousands of dollars of prizes over the years. We donate to a range charities throughout the year, ensuring that we contribute to and deliver value to the communities we are part of.

* By focusing on value, we may throw in the occasional value-add or reward into the mix for our customers. These types of offers allow us to provide you with extra value, whilst allowing us to honour our promises to our loyal customer base.

* For commercial clients buying large quantities, we do sometimes offer a bulk discount, passing on the efficiency savings to our customers. We do this transparently, offering the same level of bulk discount to all customers.
