"I first came across this tree while bushwalking in summer, amazed that it had survived amongst nearby snow gums that had been burnt in severe bushfires which hit the area in 2003. Keen to capture this tree in winter, I camped out for a few nights nearby and returned to this tree while it was snowing. The tree was everything I remembered, but with its branches heavy from the snow and ice weighing it down. It was a remarkable example of alpine survival high in the Victorian Alps."
