"The Victorian High Country presents an array of conditions in winter, some of which are hard to photograph at times. This day I experienced it snowing on and off, with the fog also coming and going. At times everything before me was hidden and other times the fog would clear, revealing the trees before me. Keen to capture this hut in its true alpine environment, I waited for the fog to clear and managed to capture this old hut amongst the old snow gums of the area." - Scott
The old corrugated iron Country Roads Board (CRB) hut is one of a series of huts built by the CRB from the 1920's to provide shelter for travellers and CRB workers along the Alpine Road. The erection of these huts was made on the recommendation of Bill Spargo, the CRB superintendent at the time, and a pioneer of the region. CRB hut, was built around 1923-25 and is one of the best preserved CRB huts left in Victoria. The original dirt floor is now covered with timber. It is often covered in snow during winter.
