Regarded as a hidden gem, Emily Miller Beach is a picturesque and sheltered beach in the Murramarang National Park. The beach derives its name from an incident where the 29 ton Ketch Emily Miller, whilst on a voyage between Tomago and Sydney, was wrecked near Durras on the afternoon of 19 November 1879. The 16.5 metre vessel was carrying a load of timber when driven into the breakers near Wasp Inlet, north of Bateman's Bay. The small vessel battled to stay off the shore in the face of a strong sea, but after two and a half hours, the single passenger, and crew of four were forced ashore.
